Care

Jewelry Care (Built to Be Worn)

Beads & Bolts jewelry is made to move with you — not sit in a box. A little care keeps your pieces looking sharp and ready for whatever’s next.

General Rules (Live by These)

  • Last on, first off:  jewelry goes on after lotions, perfume, and sprays.
  • Water isn’t your friend:  take pieces off before swimming, hot tubs, long showers, or heavy cleaning.
  • Store with intent:  separate pieces to avoid scratches, tangles, and unnecessary wear.
  • Wipe it down:  a quick polish with a soft cloth after wear keeps oils and residue in check.

Material-Specific Care

Stainless Steel (Tough, corrosion resistant, and made for daily wear)

    • Clean with warm water and mild soap, then dry completely.
    • Buff fingerprints with a microfiber cloth.
    • Skip abrasive pads — scratches aren’t a good look.

    Silver

    • Silver reacts — it’s normal.
    • Store in sealed or anti-tarnish packaging when not worn.
    • Use a silver polishing cloth to bring back the shine.
    • Keep it away from chlorine and harsh chemicals.

    Aluminum (Lightweight with attitude)

    • Clean gently with soap and water, dry immediately.
    • Avoid abrasive cleaners — aluminum scratches easier than steel.

Natural Gemstones (Real stones deserve real care)

    • Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaners, and chemicals.
    • Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry fully.
    • Take off before workouts, yard work, or anything high-impact.

    Leather

    • Leather lives better dry.
    • Avoid water, sweat, and prolonged sun exposure.
    • Store flat or loosely coiled.
    • If it gets wet, air dry naturally — no heat.

    Stretch Cord (Built to flex)

    • Roll on and off — don’t overstretch.
    • Remove before swimming or showering to protect elasticity.
    • Store flat and avoid heavy charms.

    What Not to Do

    • No chlorine, saltwater, or harsh cleaners
    • No lotions, perfume, or sprays directly on jewelry
    • No sleeping in your pieces (especially stretch and leather)
